Manufactured Log Homes Give Rustic Charm To Any Property

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Do you own a small piece of property in the woods or a few acres of land on a field or farm? If so, you may be thinking of buying a mobile home to put on your land. While building a fully sized traditional residence may not be financially possible, putting a manufactured home on the property can be done for less than $30,000 in many cases.

Instead of going with a traditional mobile home style, why not add rustic charm to your property with one of the many manufactured log homes available.

Manufactured log homes look very much like a traditional log home. They are made with high-quality materials and will fit right into any natural landscape. They can come with added front or back porch areas, which can allow you to sit down and enjoy nature. In addition, some of the models come with open floors plans and upstairs loft areas. Most of these homes can be placed on slab flooring, block or even fully concreted basements. Many come with large tubs, upgraded flooring and even stainless appliances.

Choosing to buy a manufactured log home can save you thousands of dollars. A traditionally built log home can cost hundreds of thousands! They add beauty and décor to your property and can be customized and designed to include many lovely upgrades. Whether you’re looking for a primary residence or a place to venture out to on the weekends at the lake, a manufactured log home is the perfect option.

Manufactured Home Communities in Oregon

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

If you own or are thinking about purchasing a manufactured home in Oregon, you may be pleasantly surprised to find out there is an organization just for manufactured homeowners in the state.

Manufactured Housing Communities in Oregon (MHCO) was started in 1990 and continues on today. It began as a small group of manufactured home and park owners and now consists of many homeowners.

The basis of the organization was to help manufactured home owners and park owners better understand their rights and responsibilities. The focus was initially to contest unfair zone barriers and to argue against rent control ballots.

The founders felt the manufactured home industry was misunderstood as a whole and continues to be on many levels. Thus, they continuously work to educated everyone on the mobile lifestyle.

The organization works with government and citizens to improve all understanding of the unique manufactured home lifestyle throughout Oregon communities. They keep a lookout for any government regulation or law proposal which may affect mobile homes.

In addition, they work to relay all government information to mobile home residents in terms anyone can understand fully. Their goal is to protect manufactured homeowners and their home investments.

As a non-profit organization, the upkeep of the organization relies fully on the 500 member’s dues and additional program revenues. Thus, the program is operated by the owners, for the owners.

Anyone who is living within the state of Oregon in a manufactured home, or owns a mobile home park can become a member of this organization and reap the immediate benefits.

Distinguishing Features of Manufactured Homes

Friday, October 31st, 2008

A manufactured home may be an appealing option for you. These homes come in a variety of styles, sizes, and floor plans, and range in price from about $15,000 to more than $100,000 without land. A manufactured home can range in size from 640 square feet all the way up to a spacious 2305 square feet.

Manufactured homes offer a way to affordable luxury at a price that is dramatically lower than can be achieved with site-built construction methods. But there is still a big gap in knowledge about these homes, even among Realtors and others involved in selling these products.

Manufactured homes are predominantly single-story and are delivered to the home site in one, two or three sections.

Manufactured homes are available in non-drywall, partial drywall, or full finished drywall. A manufactured home is one type of factory-built prefab housing. Other types of factory-built housing include modular homes, panelized homes, mobile homes, and pre-cut homes.

Manufactured homes are typically purchased from a retail sales company that may be independently owned and operated, initially assembled by a local contracting company, and follow-up repairs performed by the manufactured home company under warranty. For this reason, customer service and reputation are extremely important.

Manufactured homes are available in a variety of floor plans that include spacious living rooms, dining rooms, fully equipped kitchens, one or more bedrooms, family rooms, and utility rooms. Depending upon your needs and the size of your lot, you can choose a single-section home plan or a larger multi-section design.

Manufactured homes are not large recreational vehicles. The latter are more properly called travel trailers, motor homes or RVs, and they are usually parked at facilities called trailer parks, trailer courts, or RV parks for short terms.

Depending on the location and excluding the cost of land, construction cost per square foot for a new manufactured home averages anywhere from 10 to 35 percent less than a comparable site-built home. A manufactured home is the answer if you are looking for a first home, a larger home for your growing family, or the perfect retirement home.
