If you own or are thinking about purchasing a manufactured home in Oregon, you may be pleasantly surprised to find out there is an organization just for manufactured homeowners in the state.

Manufactured Housing Communities in Oregon (MHCO) was started in 1990 and continues on today. It began as a small group of manufactured home and park owners and now consists of many homeowners.

The basis of the organization was to help manufactured home owners and park owners better understand their rights and responsibilities. The focus was initially to contest unfair zone barriers and to argue against rent control ballots.

The founders felt the manufactured home industry was misunderstood as a whole and continues to be on many levels. Thus, they continuously work to educated everyone on the mobile lifestyle.

The organization works with government and citizens to improve all understanding of the unique manufactured home lifestyle throughout Oregon communities. They keep a lookout for any government regulation or law proposal which may affect mobile homes.

In addition, they work to relay all government information to mobile home residents in terms anyone can understand fully. Their goal is to protect manufactured homeowners and their home investments.

As a non-profit organization, the upkeep of the organization relies fully on the 500 member’s dues and additional program revenues. Thus, the program is operated by the owners, for the owners.

Anyone who is living within the state of Oregon in a manufactured home, or owns a mobile home park can become a member of this organization and reap the immediate benefits.
